Dear Friends,
Many, many thanks to all who volunteered to make last night such a wonderful evening here at Beth Sholom. I've said it before and I'll say it again - this shul is amazing! Special thanks to Illysa Wertheimer for spearheading the evening and making it all happen. Please thank her for all her incredible efforts next time you see her....
...and if you're wondering when a good time to do that is, this Sunday's annual meeting is a great place! The meeting will begin at 10 am (not 10:30 - sorry for the confusion), followed by brunch and highlights from our 60 years of history that you don't want to miss. Bring your kids on Sunday for a special Hanukkah celebration and magic show!
We're also having a blood drive on Sunday. Signups very welcome at this link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050c48afad2ca75-blood
You can also bring with you your gifts for the Coleman school gift shop and deposit them in the collection bins in the entranceway.
Tonight is Adopt-A-Shabbat - services here at 6 pm followed by dinner at our hosts. Tomorrow morning we have a 60th Anniversary special edition of Mishpacha Monthly, and a rare occurrence of 3 Torahs in the main service (Shabbat, Rosh Chodesh, and Hanukkah). In lieu of a formal sermon, tomorrow I'll be teaching you more than you ever wanted to know about the history of the dreidel and the sufganiya (jelly donut). Where do these wacky Hanukkah traditions come from? Find out tomorrow morning!
Please also call the office to rsvp for our December 25th Chinese food Shabbat dinner and musical Shabbat service with special guest Happie Hoffman. It's not to be missed!
Thanks everyone!
Shabbat Shalom and Happy Hanukkah,
Rabbi Ilan
